I'm taking part in The Big Marsden Trek
Hi everyone! My name is Yashika, and I’m a medical student who is truly passionate about supporting The Royal Marsden’s mission - supporting its incredible nurses, doctors and research teams to provide the very best care and develop life-saving treatments.
Earlier this year, I conducted an audit looking at the timeliness of oncology treatment following brain tumour surgery in paediatric patients, and the experience has stayed with me ever since. Behind every scan, operation, treatment plan and hospital appointment is a person and a family going through something that no one should ever have to face.
I have been deeply moved by the courage and strength of the families I have encountered, and by the incredible compassion of the healthcare professionals who do everything they can to ensure that patients feel cared for, listened to and never alone. They are some of the most inspiring people I have ever had the privilege of meeting, and this experience has made me driven to give back in any way I can.
On 13th September, I’ll be taking on a 26.2-mile trek across the North Downs to raise money for The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity :)
Every donation, no matter how big or small, means the absolute world to me! Each contribution is a little act of kindness that can help support patients and families, fund vital research and give hope to those who need it most.
