My Updates

A little note…

Monday 13th Jul
For those who don’t know, cancer has been a huge part of my life for the last few years now. My Dad is living with inoperable lung cancer and against all odds, is currently in the workshop finding something to fix before he goes out on a dreamy Summer drive. What a wild ride it has been for my family. Despite months of turmoil and a prognosis of a year (at best), the whole journey changed for us when he was transferred to the Marsden for treatment back in Summer 2023.

Walking into The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust for the first time to sit with Dad for his first round of chemo, is a feeling and experience that will live with me for the rest of my life. A whole ward full of people fighting a very ugly disease, at different stages, in different bodies, feeling all kinds of different emotions…but this was normality. An eye-opening experience to say the least, nurses sent from heaven and a service that rivals any private hospital I have ever been in. It is impossible to explain how grateful we are for every person who helped Dad, and us, on the journey to his recovery.

If you don’t know someone, you know someone who knows someone, that suffers with cancer. For me it’s a father, a partner, a best friend and a host of others in my life that have been diagnosed, and fortunately had the support of the Marsden to help along the way.

The Oak Centre in Sutton holds a lot of different emotions for me. Above all, a sense of calmness, knowing and trusting a process that gives hope. If you know me, you know I always see the glass half full…thanks to Dad for the positive mental attitude. Where would I be without your weird and wonderful direction in life ♥️

I’m very excited to be a part of the The Big Marsden Trek, a 26.2 mile hike across the Surrey countryside on Sunday 13th September in aid of the The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity. I would be very grateful for any donations to sponsor something very close to my heart.
