Week Four Update 🏃🏼‍♂️

Tuesday 30th Sep
Ladies and gents, WE DID IT. 🙌 Not only did we hit the target I set, but we smashed through it and raised far more than I ever expected.

Looking back, this challenge has been a real rollercoaster.

WEEK ONE, I pushed hard and racked up 89km, only to be stopped in my tracks by a locked-up knee and some brutal blisters. Would have preferred to achieve the 100km target I set for myself.

WEEK TWO tested me even more, the running slowed, the walking took over, and I had to fight through frustration just to keep moving. Only managed to achieve 18.5km.

WEEK THREE was the turning point. I switched up my routine, found my stride again, and felt that runner’s high I’d been chasing. Got to 38km before the week ended.

And now, here we are at the finish line of September. Tired, sore, but proud. 💙

Here are the final numbers:
Distance Ran: 257 km
Time Spent Running: 24:06:42
Total Distance Covered: 394 km
111 km in the last week alone 💥
Funds Raised (so far): £501 🙏
Completed 3 half marathons (+ a bit extra), including 2 back-to-back

Every blister, every ache, every setback was worth it, because this wasn’t just about kilometres. It was about supporting The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity and the life-saving work they do for patients and families across the UK.

To everyone who’s donated, sponsored, or cheered me on along the way, THANK YOU. Your support has carried me through the tough days and made this challenge possible.

👉 Challenges end, but the mission continues.

Week Three Update 🏃🏼‍♂️

Monday 22nd Sep

Week three has been a real turning point. After a tough start to the challenge and a slow beginning to this week, I’ve been taking on board everything I learned from the first two weeks, listening to my body, pacing myself, and trying new approaches.

Midway through the week, I switched things up and decided to run before training instead of afterwards, what a difference it made. I felt lighter, faster, and completely in the zone. That runner’s high kicked in and carried me through. Two days later, I tried the same thing again, no pain, just pure flow. It was the first time in this challenge I felt like my body and mind were fully working together instead of against each other.

As it stands, I’ve now covered just over 150km. While I know hitting the full 250km target might be out of reach, this isn’t about perfection, it’s about pushing myself further than I thought possible and raising money for an incredible cause. Every step, whether walked or run, is for The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity 💙 and the life-saving work they do.

There are still days to go, and I’ll keep pushing to get as close as I can. Because this journey isn’t about how easy it is, it’s about how much it matters.

👉 The goal isn’t just distance, it’s about making a difference.

Week Two Update 🏃‍♂️

Monday 15th Sep
After finishing week one on such a high, week two brought me back down to earth. My knee has been giving me trouble, which meant I had to ease off the running and switch to walking just to keep moving and stay in the game. Not quite the week I had in mind, but progress isn’t always in straight lines.

The good news? Together we’ve already raised just over £300 for The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity and that support means the world. Every donation is fuelling me to keep pushing, even on the tougher days.

With 16 days still to go, the target of 250km is still in sight. It might not be pretty, and it might take some adapting, but I’m determined to keep moving forward, one step at a time.

👉 Setbacks are just part of the journey but the goal remains the same.

Week One Update 🏃‍♂️

Sunday 7th Sep

Week one of my September challenge is done, and I’ve racked up 89km of running so far. My target was 100km, but my knee gave out towards the end, which meant taking Saturday and Sunday off to recover.

It’s fair to say the first week has tested me in more ways than one. Not only did I push my limits, but my body made sure to remind me of them too. By midweek my toes had grown blisters the same size as the toe itself, every step was a reminder of the grind. And let’s not forget the joys of long-distance running… I had to dig out the tub of Vaseline to fight off nipple rash. The glamorous side of training! 😁

Still, I’ve always believed growth happens outside your comfort zone. Be comfortable being uncomfortable, the mindset I carried into each run.

My last run of the week sums it up perfectly. I set out for 15km, but when I hit 10km I found myself in the zone, that “second wind” runners talk about. So I thought, why not push for 30km! Managed 20km before my knee started whispering at me to stop. Stubborn as ever, I kept going, but by 24km my knee fully locked up. I had no choice but to stop and walk, covering the last 2/3km back to the car. And no, I didn’t count those walked kilometres, only the ones I ran.

This week has been tough, messy, and far from perfect but that’s part of the journey. I’ve taken the weekend off running (just a few short walks) to let my body recover, and I’m ready to go again next week.

Every step, blister, and setback is worth it for this challenge, raising funds for The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity and supporting the incredible work they do for patients and families. 💙

👉 It’s not about comfort, it’s about commitment, every kilometre is a step towards hope.

15km down, only 235km left.
Not massive fan of running, but do love a good challenge.
Might change my mind after this and become professional runner.
