My Updates

97km - Close but no cigar

Tuesday 29th Sep
Today marks the day I got to 97km total - Last year I got to 98km - My Goal this time is 100km I have one more day until its October.
We have had the best intentions of using the walking pad in the branch but due to resourcing it has been a struggle. Today after a small battle with insomnia and a very sociable weekend I woke up at 3:33AM and decided that what better time to walk to work but during my annual leave - I got ready, and set off at 6:04 - Fully intending on getting a McDonalds breakfast as a reward - Which I did and it was glorious - after 7.01km to McDonalds I didn't fancy walking much around town so I waited outside the branch for somebody to let me in. After an hour and twenty waiting in the cold and the wet (and numerous interactions with Liverpools weird and wonderfuls) I settled down to do as much work as physically possible before changing into my Royal Marsden T Shirt and whipping out the walking pad. With the bucket in hand (for the photo, it was far too distracting to have hold of as the walking pad had no bars or sides.
2k passed and as a lady put something in the bucket I thanked her and fell of the back, smacking the wall.
that didn't stop me!
We did another 2k.
My colleague Beth did a little burst of walking in between customers.
I did another 0.25 before somebody else needed a photo op
I did another 0.25 which I filmed to try and turn into a Reel for Instagram - We'll see if I can make that remotely amusing
I finished off with another 1.5km.

We're not over yet, approximately 13 hours after waking up I decide i'm still not done! The walk from work back home mysteriously was 7.25km an extra 0.24km from the walk to work, very interesting indeed and definitely has nothing to do with me getting lost on the way home.

I started the day on 77km
I post this on 97km
I need a bath and a takeaway - My McDonalds breakfast has definitely worn off. 20km later I can definitely feel it in my little leggies. Not a bad amount of work for a day off!

We also raised £65 which we paid in through our charity codes! so although it doesn't show on our total - we still appreciate it. Over the past 2 years my friends/family/colleagues have helped me raise over £500 for Royal Marsden and the support genuinely means a lot!
