Why I'm taking part in The Big Marsden Trek

In 2025 my sister and brother were diagnosed with cancer, both have received outstanding care, we are so thankful that surgery, chemo, radiotherapy and the latest immunotherapy treatments has been available to them, giving every hope that they will beat this awful disease.
For family and friends we do everything we can to support our loved ones as they endure the cycles of cancer treatment. It is hard to watch those who mean the most to us go through surgery and treatment, knowing it is necessary to give them every opportunity to face a future where they will be cancer free.
I doubt if any family who has had a loved one go through cancer care can adequatly relay their gratitude to the doctors and nurses expertise, care and support, they really are a shining light during dark times. That is why I am taking this opportunity to support their work by taking part in The Big Marsden Trek. I hope that the money I raise can contribute towards making treatment available to everyone facing a cancer diagnosis and support research so that everyone can be given the hope that they too will receive life saving treatment.
By donating to my page we can help the nurses, doctors, and research teams of The Royal Marsden provide the very best care and develop life-saving treatments. Together, we can save the lives of cancer patients everywhere. Please support me today.

My Updates

We Did It - Thank you!!

Friday 28th Aug
I am beyond thankful to my family and friends who have supported me and my fundraising efforts for The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity Big Trek Challenge, today my fund raising total is £2595 ... thank you, thank you, THANK YOU. Your generousity has helped me surpass my goal, your kindness means so very much. I have no doubts that this challenge will be tough, 26.2 miles tough in fact but knowing I have your support and focusing on the reasons why I have taken on this marathon I know will see me through. The challenge is on Sunday 13th September starting in Dorking and finishing at the Royal Marsden at Banstead. The total so far has exceeded my expectations but wouldnt it be great if we could reach £3000? I don't find asking for support the easiest of things to do but for this charity I will. This year advances in cancer treatment funded by The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity saved my sister and brother's lives. Chemotherapy, radiotherapy, immunotherapy and the latest life saving surgery has given them and my family hope of a life after cancer, a gift for which I would walk 1000 miles if need be. If you can support me in my challenge it would be very much appreciated. xx

My Fantastic Sister

This year has thrown everything at Sara, I am in awe of her strength, tenacity and determination, even on her not so good days she keeps on going. xxx

8km Before Breakfast Anyone??

Thursday 6th Aug
In preparation for the Royal Marsden Big Trek I am currently walking about 8 to 10 miles a day with gym training 4 to 5 times a week. These guys accompany me on my outdoor walks, they are the best company, they keep me smiling every step of the way, they never moan their feet hurt, they never get bored and just lap up every second they are out.

Why I Am Getting My Walking Shoes On for The Royal Marsden

Monday 27th Jul
When my sister Sara was diagnosed with ovarian and bowel cancer it was devastating, we could only hope that life saving treatment was available. Sara has been through surgery, chemo and continues on immunotherapy, it is a tough treatment, as a family we are thankful that these life saving drugs are available for her care. Advances in cancer treatement and care is not possible without the support from people like us allowing the medical profession to advance treatment and give hope to all cancer patients. I have lost family and friends to this awful disease, people I miss to this day, I do not want to lose more. Supporting charities such as The Royal Marsden gives us all hope that should our loved ones or ourselves face a diagnosis of cancer we have a chance of beating it . I hope to raise £1000 for this fantastic charity, I am so grateful for the donations made so far, I am training hard and determined to complete the challenge and get to the finishing line.
