End of Week Three...

Friday 19th Sep
So after three weeks of the challenge, I have managed to clock up 41km (somehow!). A number I am very proud of, but still some way from the finish line.

Thank you to you all for your support and encouragement so far.

When catching up with a dear friend today, and talking about The Royal Marsden fundraising activity, it warmed my heart to hear his story about when his dad was looked after by The Royal Marsden during his battle with Prostate Cancer.

I listened intently as he recounted his visits with his dad to The Royal Marsden and how fondly he spoke of them. From the car journey's to the hospital to the time spent there for his dad's treatment and the care they provided.

I already believed in the cause and the reason why so many of us are taking part and supporting this fundraising event, but a real life conversation, with a real life first hand experience of The Royal Marsden, reinforced for me, the reason why, why it's so important for The Royal Marsden - the world's first hospital dedicated to cancel diagnosis, treatment, research and education, to have this support.

See you next at the end of week 4!

End of Week One...

Monday 8th Sep
Again, a heartfelt 'thank you' to all who have sponsored me so far.

A notch off £200 raised and 15km completed so far.

I am completing 50k in September for all of those who are bravely battling cancer, and for those no longer with us.

More personally, my dear friend, Joanne who has shown great bravery and courage in her continued fight against cancer.

'Gentleman' Bill Parkinson, my sister-in-law's Dad. The strongest of men who is defying the odds and continues in his fight against cancer whilst sadly battling dementia too.

And to my Uncle Paul and cousin Chamaine who are no longer with me....this is for you too.

Your support means a lot.

Our Fundraising Matters...

Wednesday 30th Jul
A heartfelt 'thank you' to all who have sponsored me so far.

The money we are raising means The Royal Marsden can continue to provide the very best care and develop life-saving treatments.

Every £ counts!

£20 - could help support pioneering research and save the lives of more people with cancer.

£35 - could help fund state-of-the-art equipment to provide faster and more accurate diagnoses and treatment for cancer patients.

£50 - could help support clinical trials at the Royal Marsden, giving patients access to the very latest treatments.

Your support means a lot.

A Social Purpose...

Friday 18th Jul

At Nationwide, we have always had a social purpose. Last year we embarked on a new social impact programme, Nationwide Fairer Futures, shaped by our purpose – Banking - but fairer, more rewarding, and for the good of society.

Life can deal people an unfair hand at any time.  Nationwide Fairer Futures will help tackle four of the biggest issues we see in society today – youth homelessness, families living in poverty, people living with dementia and people affected by cancer.

As part of Nationwide’s Commercial Team (the 'Red Hot Commercial Steppers'), I am hoping to raise as much money as possible for one of our Fairer Futures partners, The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, by walking 50km in September 2025.

The Royal Marsden’s world-leading nurses, doctors and research teams provide the very best care and develop life-saving treatments, which are used across the UK and around the world.

You can read more about them here - Home | The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity
