The Walk of Remembrance
Friday 28th AugThree years ago, I lost my mum to cancer. The date will always carry a particularly painful meaning for me, as she passed away on my father’s exact birthday — my dad, who I lost 16 years ago.
Cancer has taken so much from my family. For my mum, it was discovered at stage 3, and sadly, by the time we knew what we were facing, it was too late.
I have also lost a dear cousin, who passed away at just 39 years old after bravely battling breast cancer for over five years. Watching someone you love fight for so long and still losing them is something that stays with you forever.
This September, I have decided to take part in the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity Walk. I am doing this in memory of my mum, my cousin, and in support of every person and family currently facing a cancer diagnosis.
While we couldn’t change their outcomes, I know that research, early diagnosis and better treatments can give other patients something incredibly precious: a chance. A chance to survive, more time with the people they love, and hope for the future.
By raising money for The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, I hope to play even a small part in supporting the treatment, research and care that can make that difference.
I will be walking with my mum, my dad and my cousin in my heart. ❤️
If you are able to support me, no matter how small the donation, I would be incredibly grateful. Thank you for helping me support a cause that means more to me than words can say. ❤️
