My Updates

We're Taking Part in The Big Marsden Trek on Sunday 13 September 2026.

Tuesday 14th Jul
Archie's dad Harry, my daughter Zoe and I, will be walking a full marathon distance of 26.2 miles, in support of The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity. We have created a JustGiving page, linked below, and would be incredibly grateful for any donation, no matter the size.
Every contribution really will bring hope to those facing their toughest battles.
Thank you for taking the time to read Archie's story, for keeping him in your thoughts and prayers, and for any support you can give.
Every donation, share, and message of encouragement means the world to us, in our fight for this brave little soldier.

Archie’s story

Tuesday 14th Jul
Our beautiful grandson, Archie Joshua Coomber, was born on 2nd July 2024 to our youngest son Harry and his wife Lauren, joining his big brother Noah, who is now 4 years old.
From the very beginning, Archie never seemed quite well. He was constantly in and out of doctors' surgeries with a persistent cough, fever and an unusual lack of appetite.
Despite numerous appointments and tests, nobody could understand why this little boy couldn't seem to get better.
Then, just a few weeks ago at the beginning of June, our world changed forever.
Following an MRI scan, Archie was diagnosed with Stage 4 Hepatoblastoma, a rare and aggressive childhood liver cancer, which had already spread to his lungs.
The cause of his persistent cough was finally explained.
We have been told that this illness is simply heartbreakingly bad luck, affecting only a tiny number of children through a rare genetic mutation that occurs before birth.
Last week, Archie spent his second birthday in hospital, undergoing a third round of chemotherapy to shrink the tumour that may make surgery possible and a healthy liver regenerate.
Whilst his medical team remain hopeful, the reality is that his prognosis is uncertain, with doctors currently estimating a five-year survival rate of between 20% and 70%.
We are incredibly grateful that Archie is being cared for by the outstanding team at The Royal Marsden, one of the world's leading cancer hospitals, if anyone can cure him, they can.
Despite everything, Archie continues to show remarkable courage. He doesn't understand why he continues to feel unwell or why a hospital has become such a regular part of his young life. Yet despite all this, he continues to smile, play, and bring joy to everyone around him. As a strong family, we continue to come together in prayer and hope.
