Run 31 Miles in 31 days - January 2026

I’m taking part in this challenge with my fellow Beccehamian Ladies to support The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.

They provide the very best care and develop life-saving treatments which are used across the UK and around the world. Not only that but they are and have been treating our dear friend and core mischief maker for a number of years now and their expertise is much appreciated by us all. Raising money will help with their world leading research and development of treatments to help beat cancer.

We all say #FuckCancer...and this is our small contribution to help to kick it into touch.

Please support me and my fellow Old Beccs Legends as we all jog/run/stagger a mile a day in January 2026. By making a donation, no matter how large or small, it will help to make a difference to the lives of people who are living with cancer and being treated for cancer.

Thanks and Happy New Year!

Day 24 A week to go

Saturday 24th Jan
Day 24 - this time next week it'll all be done! Good job too as this knee really needs a rest. A mile with Ronnie this morning, very slow with lots of stopping for sniffs, wees and poo. Ronnie not me...

I've now run 54 miles out of the 62 miles in 31 days of January for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.  7 in 7 to go..

Thank you so much to Sam for the donation yesterday 🏴‍☠️ All donations are so gratefully received. The Royal Marsden treats all sorts of patients, young and old and even rum swigging pirates 🏴‍☠️

Research is key to ending people dying from cancer. Research into childhood cancer in particular and tough to beat cancers, brain, pancreas, oesophagus. I've lost very dear family and friends to all three 😔 Please consider a donation if you are able 💕

Day 23 Slow, slippy mud

Friday 23rd Jan
Day 23 of running 62 miles in 31 days of January for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity. And it finally stopped raining!! 💦☔🌨️
I've now run 53 out of 62 miles - just 9 to go! 🎉💪

We were SO extraordinarily slow today (Ronnie and I) it was wet, we're tired, Ron had lots of sniffs and the slippy mud in the woods was slippy!

Thank you to my lovely Jenny and Sheila who broke the two day donation break and let me do another happy dance. Thank you so much, I really appreciate it. 💕

It's nearly the end of the month - honest. Please would someone make my day and donate a couple of quid just to shut me up for another 24 hours?! 😘

Day 22 - Groundhog Day

Thursday 22nd Jan
It feels like Groundhog Day! Only a few hours since my last run and I've shuffled around another mile, and another mile only! 😂 I have a very stiff knee this morning where I fell on it last night but hey it doesn't hurt when I run - that's good right?! 🫣

Anyway, it's Day 22 of running 62 miles in 31 days of January for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity. I've now run 51 miles with 11 to go. 🤩

I had no donations for the last two days(!!)  😭😭  I know, January is hard, it feels like the 158th day of the month and payday is still almost a week away..

The money I'm raising is so important, when you donate it saves lives. Simple as.
❤️💕😍

Please consider donating if you can spare a couple of quid - any donation is AMAZING! Thank you everyone for your support xx

A huge shout out to Team OG  Beccehamians who have been out in torrential rain and wind and rivers of water and mud the last few days. I'm so proud to call you my friends. 😘

Day 21 Splat in the mud

Wednesday 21st Jan
Day 21 of running 62 miles in 31 days of January for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity. It was CaniX night!

I've now run 50 of 62 miles - 12 to go!

OMG! The rain was biblical as we left the house and I honestly thought the group would cancel but thankfully the rain stopped as we started. There was copious amounts of water 💦🌊 and mud everywhere. It was so slippy and..... BANG! Yep I went arse over whatnot as Ronnie took off at one point... Splat - mud everywhere!  😂😱🤣

We'll see how much I ache from that tomorrow. Please spare a donation for an old lady who can't stay on her own two feet in the dark?!

https://fundraise.royalmarsden.org/s/6026/6099/e

Day 20 - Creaking

Tuesday 20th Jan
Day 20 of running 62 miles in 31 days of January for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.

I've run 46 out of 62 miles - 16 to go!

Another early run, that old knee is still creaking. It might be apt to do my run dressed as the tin man if this carries on.. 😂

We're all aching a bit now and finding it hard work, running for 20 days in a row is hard work. But we're still going, we're digging deep. 🏃 People with cancer have no choice, they have to pick themselves up and carry on, despite their treatment, day after day after day after day.

That's why we're raising money, to research treatments which are better and more effective to make having to go through treatment a kinder and easier experience. 💕

Thank you so much for all the donations - please consider sponsoring me today?

Day 19 Running as a cone..

Monday 19th Jan
Day 19 of running 62 miles in 31 days of January for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.

I've run 44 miles out of the 62 - 18 to go!

Today I ran in disguise! I was sent this cunning disguise to wear on one of my runs. Someone stopped their car to let me cross the road whilst I was running - I'm not quite sure how I feel about this.. 😂 I'm glad I couldn't see their face anyway..

Today my offline donations were added to the fundraiser total which now looks even more MAGNIFICENT!! I'm just so grateful to all my CAF friends for their generous donations. Thank you to Philip and Vicky for their second donation, I need to do another dance now!! 😂 And thank you so much to Stuart (I assume Stu was you!) for donating from the other side of the world. You are all awesome!

I've got a stiff knee today but I realise this is because of some daft squat exercises I did over the weekend. Running was fine! 😂 I ran looking like a cone (a right plank) this evening - that's got to be worth a donation from someone else?

Day 18 Wet Feet

Sunday 18th Jan
Day 18 of running 62 miles in 31 days of January for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.

I've run 43 miles of 62..

We decided to head up to the hills this morning and run some trails we don't have time to get to during the week. It's drying out a bit but we did encounter a stream where the stepping stones are usually WAY above water 💦 Not today!! Time for a paddle and wet feet and ankles! 😂 😂

Thank you SO MUCH to everyone who has sponsored me. Yesterday the lovely Suzanne donated as well as giving me loads of encouragement all the time 💕
My fabulous Mum and Dad donated AGAIN to cover the extra miles I'm doing to get to 62 miles 💕 and I had a donation from Margaret which is brilliant but I don't know which Margaret it was!! Probably from West Malling choir but please let me know if it's you and thank you so much 💕

Was it worth getting the soaking wet feet today? Please sponsor my wet trail shoes? 👟👞 https://fundraise.royalmarsden.org/s/6026/6099/e

Day 17 - 39 miles run..

Saturday 17th Jan
Day 17 of run 62 miles in 31 days of January for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity. Ron and I went for an afternoon run after my dip in the lake as we're still trying to ramp up the miles.

I've now run 39 miles out of 62..

There was a knock on the door this afternoon and a new hat arrived from Nick and Emily to be worn on a run. This better be worth it..! 😂

Yesterday I had two donations from Jan and Victoria who are both members of my choir. Thank you both so much xxx There was also a fabulous one from Simon at work - thank you - I have to get the organisers to add the offline ones to the total.

I'm still looking for a donation today if anyone would like to sponsor me?

Day 16 Double your Distance?

Friday 16th Jan
Day 16 of running a mile a day in the 31 days of January for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity. Definitely halfway now - although I have now been challenged to double my distance and so do another 31 miles in this later half of the month. So there's no letting up!

Yesterday was a brilliant day for donations and I'm thrilled with every single one of them. Thank you so much to Linda, Laura and Stephen as well as Sean and Graham from work. I've four offline donations which will hopefully be added to the fundraiser total soon. The whole team are in awe of the amount of money coming in - THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH 💕
Anyone else want to help me double my distance? I've run 35 miles so far so I have 27 still to run in 15 days.. 🏃

https://fundraise.royalmarsden.org/s/6026/6099/e

Day 15 Halfway-ish

Thursday 15th Jan
Day 15!!!! Kind of halfway-ish, after tomorrow it's the downward stretch! And the big news is I hit my mileage total today - I've run 32 miles so far! But it's certainly not over, I pledged to run a mile a day so you'll have to put up with me for another 16 days and 16 miles yet! 😂 😂 😂 😂

The even better news is that you can still sponsor me! All the time I'm going out running on horrible, wet, winter mornings, there are people with cancer getting up for radiotherapy, surgery, chemotherapy, scans, needles and tests. I know which I'd rather be doing..😔

We (that's you!) can help to find treatments which are less aggressive and easier to get through. All our pennies add up and count. Please consider donating and maybe I'll do my happy dance in the rain as requested... 🤔💃☔

https://fundraise.royalmarsden.org/s/6026/6099/e

Day 13 Out Early..

Tuesday 13th Jan
It's a busy Tuesday and my early shift so nothing for it but to get up and out there first thing to get a mile in before starting work. ⏰

It's day 13 of running 31 miles in 31 days of January for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity. 💪

Thank you so much for all the donations they are all really appreciated. 💕

Every time I logon and see a new donation it fills my heart with such joy that we're raising more money together. And I can honestly then tick off that days run as totally worthwhile as its brought in some more money. 🎉🌟🎈

So please someone make me do a happy dance and make my early start and pre-sunrise visit to the sheep field  today worth it...🙏💕

Day 10 crazy dark skies CaniX

Saturday 10th Jan
Absolutely crazy 10k in the Surrey Hills this evening - Dark Skies - thus in the dark, up and down hills with just a headtorch to see the way. And a lurcher mostly towing me at top speed or stopping for a few death rolls (Jack would be proud 😂) Navigating in the dark following luminous signs hung from the fences and trees was quite bizarre - but fun! 😂

One of the miles is dedicated to the 31 miles in 31 days of January for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity. I already ache so the mile tomorrow will be much more sedate..

Fancy sponsoring me? Does running through the countryside in the dark float your boat?!

https://fundraise.royalmarsden.org/s/6026/6099/e

Day 9 - Blowing a Hoolie out there!

Friday 9th Jan
Today is the first day I've really felt cold out there - it was the end of storm Goretti and was damp, cold and blowing an absolute hoolie!

Nine days in and I've run 15 miles which is almost half way so I'm happy with that. I really want to run a mile every day though which is proving hard on the legs. Ronnie and I are due to do a Canix event tomorrow so I'm hoping there is bit of bounce available tomorrow.

Day 8 a week completed

Thursday 8th Jan
Day 9 of running 31 miles in 31 days of January for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity. It was misty, dull and threatening rain and I ache after being hauled around at CaniXed by Ronnie yesterday. But we went out and actually did 2 miles!

Cancer patients can't just say they don't fancy going out for their treatment today. They have no choice and that's why I ran today, even though I didn't really feel like it.

Today's run is dedicated to every single one of my friends and family who are going through cancer treatment right now or have been recently. My hat is doffed to you as I can't imagine how hard it must be. 🙏💕

Please make this challenge worthwhile and consider donating a couple of quid?

Update on mileage

Tuesday 6th Jan
You'll have to ignore the tracker on this page as it's reading directly from Strava and includes my walks with Ronnie and my swims.

My running total after 6 days is seven miles (which doesn't sound like much!! 😂 😂)

Day 6 Panda

Tuesday 6th Jan
It was freezing cold this morning and I was on earlies so I was up before the sun to get my mile in. Day 6 came around far too quickly and it was also flipping freezing outside so a good day to tick off the 'run in your bear outfit' request... 😂 🐼

I feel really tired this morning but on we go - another mile ticked off. Feel like making it all worthwhile? Then I'd love a couple of quid if you have any to spare! 💕

Thank you so much to everyone who has donated and sponsored me xxxx

https://fundraise.royalmarsden.org/s/6026/6099/e

Day 3 and it's VERY cold out there..

Saturday 3rd Jan
Day 3 (dogless run) - of my 31 miles in 31 days of January for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.

After a swim, and a dog walk.. 😂 I thought I'd better pop out for my daily mile. Still a bit snotty but feeling much better today (did I tell you I have a cold?! 😂) It was such a lovely sunny, beautiful day to be out in the freezing cold ❄️ ☃️ ❄️

So dogless running - not recommended - so much harder without my boy dragging me along behind. But I'm doing it for one reason, to raise money for cancer research so that more people can survive this awful disease.

Thank you so much to everyone who has donated - every donation is SO appreciated xx

Anyone have a spare quid?
https://fundraise.royalmarsden.org/s/6026/6099/e

1st January - Happy New Year!

Thursday 1st Jan
First day of my run 31 miles in the 31 days of January for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity... Did I tell you I have a cold?! 😂

I didn't really feel like going out and neither did Ron as he went out earlier with Rob. I'm guessing cancer patients don't feel much like going out before, during or after treatment and there's where you come in.

I'm raising money to help research to find better drugs to beat cancer, drugs to help people feel better during treatment and kinder therapies so that people undergoing treatment can live as normally as possible.

So please give me some money!!
