Walk 50K in September

I’m taking part in this challenge to support The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.

I think it’s likely everyone has been affected by cancer in some way. Personally, I’ve seen family and friends go up against it and now it’s trying to mess with my best friend. So it’s time to attempt to raise some money for a good cause.

While I’ve been going on more walks this year, this challenge will make me up my game walking wise! I intend to only use distances in specific walks, so my regular daily steps won’t count towards the total.

The Royal Marsden’s world-leading nurses, doctors and research teams can provide the very best care and develop life-saving treatments, which are used across the UK and around the world.

By donating to my page, you’re helping to make a significant difference to the lives of cancer patients and their loved ones. If you can support me by sponsoring me to reach my tags goal, I’ll be super grateful (foot rubs also welcomed)

Walk 9: Bradlaugh Fields

Tuesday 30th Sep
CHALLENGE COMPLETED! It was buffet day at work today so as I’d snacked on beige delights throughout the morning, I didn’t need lunch and decided to get my last few K’s in during my lunch hour. It was hotter than I was expecting and I was wearing inappropriate footwear for it, but I finished! (And I met a lovely dog too) So that’s the challenge completed. Big thanks needed to my husband Ste who, bar this last one, has done every walk with me And massive thanks to anyone who sponsored me. I’ve smashed my target and raised just shy of £400 for an amazing cause that will help provide the very best care and develop life-saving treatments for cancer patients, which are used across the UK and around the world.

Walk 8: Harlestone Firs

Sunday 28th Sep
47.25k down, 2.75k to go Busy week this week so had to cram a quick one in right at the end. If I counted all my daily steps, I’d have hit target some time ago but doing specific walks makes it more challenging! Busy tomorrow night so I’ll be doing my last few k on the last day of the month. Again lucked out with the weather and missed this mornings rain!

Walk 7: Kislingbury Lakes

Sunday 21st Sep
41.91k down, 8.09k to go Under 10k to go now! Gorgeous weather today so managed to do this one in our quickest time yet. Barely any dogs this time but lots of sheep and a few geese.

Walk 6: Rushden Lakes

Thursday 18th Sep
33.84k down, 16.16k to go. Day off work today so went out for lunch, then did a few laps around the lake. Flipping windy, hair going everywhere, but again lucked out on what was originally a pretty bad weather forecast. Saw looooaaadddss of dogs 🥹

Walk 5: Duston Mill Reservoir/Grand Union Canal

Tuesday 16th Sep
29.23k total down, 20.77k to go. Another post-work quick one. The horrific orange T-shirt is back! Again, partially hidden by a hoodie so I only looked 50% like a giant wotsit. Weather forecast was pretty bad so happy to be bestowed some sunny skies. Was nice to walk around the water but the midges were out of control!

Walk 4: Brampton Valley Way

Saturday 13th Sep
26.06k down, 23.94k to go Hit the halfway mark. Not very interesting on the map though! Gorgeous weather until 3.5k in, then had to turn around and outrun the rain (we were successful) Missing my bestie on these weekend walks but she’ll be back with us soon 💪🏻

Walk 3: Harlestone Firs

Friday 12th Sep

Walk 3: Harlestone Firs

Friday 12th Sep

19.54k down, 30.46k to go

Felt a bit ill earlier this week and had been slacking, so squeezed a little post-work walk in today while the weather was behaving. Didn’t feel like taking photos of myself so have some nature instead! Nice and peaceful in the firs in the evening, startled a little muntjac deer on route

Walk 2: Pitsford Reservoir

Saturday 6th Sep
15.3k down, 34.7k to go

Nice long one today to get the mileage up. Opted out of wearing the orange monstrosity as 1. It’s was warm and that T-shirt is thick and 2. It makes me look like a walking traffic cone. Had a little lunch break half way through this one, good breeze throughout, met more dogs and cows and only got one stone in my boot - success!

Walk 1: The Harlestones

Monday 1st Sep
3.72k down, 46.28k to go

Snuck in a quick one after work. Chickened out of revealing the full glory of the neon orange T-shirt in favour of partially hiding it under a hoodie. Met some dogs and some cows. Officially off the mark!
