Why I want to raise funds for The Marsden

On 13 September I'm walking 26 miles to raise money for The Royal Marsden Cancer hospital, helping to fund life-saving research and supporting world-leading treatment and care.  

I've taken on this challenge as The Marsden is a special place to me as two of my direct family members  have been under their care - the very best women you could meet (naturally I’m biased!). I'm very grateful for the treatment they have received so now I want to support them in return.  

Cancer affects us all in some way; in the UK more than a 1,000 people are diagnosed with cancer revery day. We need breakthroughs in cancer research and treatment more than ever.  Please help me so they can continue their fantastic work, providing treatment, care and research.  Thank you.

10 mile training walk - tick

Tuesday 1st Sep
My fellow Big Trek warrior and I did a 10 mile training walk on the weekend as preparation for the 26.2 mile challenge on 13 Sept. What did I learn? 1) Walking and talking in countryside with one of your oldest and best friends is therapy, 2) My glute muscles need more up hill practice, 3) 26.2 miles is a really really long way to walk, 4) I will dig deep in the tough miles as this is my way of saying thank you to the Marsden for the care they’ve shown my family.
