Jog 31 Miles in January

20,000 reps and 312 miles in January

We are taking part in this challenge to support The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity in memory of our brother/uncle Mark. Mark bravely fought an incredibly rare cancer NUT Carcinoma of which there is currently no cure.  He was treated on the critical care, Wilson ward and by the sarcoma team. Sadly after a short battle he passed away in February 2024 and we miss him greatly.

Our son is going to participate in the challenge for the first time, he will aim for 31 miles in January, to help raise funds for this amazing cancer charity.

They ensure The Royal Marsden’s world-leading nurses, doctors and research teams can provide the very best care and develop life-saving treatments, which are used across the UK and around the world.

By donating to our page, you’re helping to make a significant difference to the lives of cancer patients and their loved ones.

This year we are doing a slightly different challenge. Jane and James are each going to lift 10,000 reps of solid weight (no junk reps here) as well as 156 miles each.  This is exactly the distance from our house to the Royal Marsden Chelsea four times the number of times dear Mark had to travel by ambulance to the Royal Marsden.

Please support us today, all pennies greatly welcome!

Week one complete!

Saturday 10th Jan
This week has flown by, with back to school work and trying to find time to squeeze in a huge volume of weights and miles.

So far Thomas has done 19 miles, which is great for a 9 year old and ahead of target. With the ice it was quite tricky to achieve.

Jane and James are already tired, sore but still with smiles on their faces.  With limited time it means rest pauses are reduced and squeezing random exercises in without injuring ourselves.  As non-runners the miles are proving the super tricky part, you're tired after all the weights and cardio is the last thing you want to do.

We are still trucking on, inspired by all the donations so far and mindful that this is nothing compared to those battling cancer. Thanks for all your support so far and bring on week 2!!
