Halfway There: A Mile a Day, Together

We’re now halfway through our challenge, and I just want to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone who has supported us so far — whether through donations, sharing the page, or sending encouragement to my Dad and me. It genuinely means so much.
Dad and I set ourselves the goal of “a mile a day.” For him, that’s a daily walk. For me, it’s a mix of walking and some (very slow!) multi‑mile jogs at the weekends. I’ve actually really enjoyed rediscovering jogging outdoors — after years of mostly exercising in the gym, it’s been lovely to get out in the fresh air.
Even though Dad’s in Devon and I’m in London, we’ve been doing this challenge together. Every day we send each other a photo — rain or shine — to keep each other motivated. I’ve added a little collage below!
Taking part in this challenge has sparked many conversations — not only about our own family’s journey, but also about the experiences of others. I’ve heard stories that are both heart‑warming and heart‑breaking, and each one reminds me how vital the work of charities like The Royal Marsden is. Their support, care, and research make a real difference to so many people.
So, thank you again — for your donations, your kind words, and for sharing your own stories with me. It means more than you know.
By donating, you’re helping to make a significant difference to the lives of cancer patients and their loved ones.
Why we’re doing this
In 2024, Brian had a major operation to remove his Thyroid following a diagnosis of Medullary Thyroid Cancer, unfortunately it was not all removed, the Royal Marsden Hospital in London continue to monitor and support him with his consultant in Derriford Hospital, Plymouth. Rebecca has signed both herself and Brian up to jog (walk in Brian’s case) a mile a day throughout January.
We hope you can spare a little to support us in raising funds for the Royal Marsden.
Jog 31 Miles in January
